Excellence Through Discipline, Leadership, and Patriotism
Mbarara Army Boarding Secondary School (MABSS) was established in 2004 with the aim of providing quality education to children of fallen & serving soldiers with military discipline and patriotic values, but all children are admitted . Founded by the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF), the school was created to nurture future leaders with strong moral character, discipline, and academic excellence.
Located on the scenic hills of Makenke, Mbarara, in Western Uganda, along the Mbarara Masaka Highway, the school began with 120 students and 15 staff members. Over the years, it has grown steadily and now accommodates over 2,000 students drawn from various regions of Uganda.
The school's unique approach combines rigorous academic training with military-style discipline, leadership development, and patriotism. This model has consistently produced graduates who excel academically while demonstrating integrity, responsibility, and service to the nation.
Today, Mbarara Army Boarding Secondary School stands as one of the premier educational institutions in the region, recognized for strong performance in national examinations and for shaping disciplined citizens who contribute meaningfully to Uganda's development.
